FYeah Finery Fashion Challenge ~ Day 6

FYeah Finery Challenge.

Day 6 ~

What do you consider to be classy clothing? Do you own said clothing?
Also, what fashion 'rules' do you dislike - such as clashing colours: (insert colour here) doesn't go with (insert colour here) or  Goth fashion and invisible rules (do -this- and -this- and you're a Mallgoth, etc)?

To me classy clothing is pretty much everything you can relate to period goth. Corsets, veil hats, long gowns, gloves, cammeos, elaborate jewelry, heels, and, aside from period, LACE *_*.
Do I own these things? Yes, some of them. Thing is, I never get to wear them; as I said in some comments, I do not really have the chance to. There aren't goth clubs or events in my area, so I'd end up wearing super elegant outfits just to go to the pub... and I most certainly can't dance in a steel boned corset.
But I definitely own a lot of black lace, and, as you can see, I wear it quite a lot of times. You have no idea how much black lace is there in my wardrobe... but you will if you keep following me :D

As regards rules I dislike... well, I have to say that I'm ok with rules. I mean: to me "goth" is 80s goth, and whatever doesn't look like that just isn't goth. Or it may be one of those sub-categories of goth which have come up in the last 30 years, like romantic goth, perky goth, circus goth, et cetera. But as a rule I tend to not call myself something I am not.
That said, I like experimenting, and that's because I don't have a label in which I feel I must fit. So, I don't mind wearing a kilt even if "that's punk", I don't mind wearing Converse sneakers because "that's not goth enough" (try and walk in a sunny afternoon with 40°C outside in combats, then let me know), and I do not certainly mind wearing an all-pink outfit from time to time because I don't have to prove that I'm a goth from head to toe.
I think this last one thing is the one that bothers me the most: I'm not wearing black every single day of my life, so what? Should I apologize if caught red-handed with a pink dress? Come on °__°! I'd get bored if I had to stay struck on a single style and never get to change a little bit, just to take a breath. I'm not one of those people who wouldn't be able to wear white pants or a yellow t-shirt to save their lives; sometimes I've wished I was, because I just couldn't choose between the many alternative styles and I couldn't get myself a label and it was a mess, but then I realized that I didn't have to give an answer to people who asked me "so, uhm, what exactly are you? Are you a goth, or...?"
You know what? Right today I'm wearing a super-colourful dress, and I'm wearing it with Converse shoes. I'll share it with you :)

It's so annoying when people get shocked seeing me in a colourful dress... it's almost like they have decided my "role" - I am the one who dresses in black - and I can't be something other than the goth one or whatever they've decided I am.
My pink side is strong! As much as the black one XD even if people can't conceive that I may like such different looks at the same time. Every time I switch they seem to think I've completely changed and quit the other look, lol. It seems a very close-minded kind of thinking :(
Ok, enough ranting! Let's all enjoy the pinkness and lacyness of my dress XD! I hope you'll like it even if it's very different from my usual outfits ^^

  1. Such a cute dress!

I understand what you mean about the 'role'.
I am (to my friends and family) the one who wears black. All the time. But if I go ahead and wear something pink - my gosh.

I like pink. People seem to think I don't :P

    Very nice post!

    1. Thank you :)
Actually, my favourite colours are pink and light blue XD but people hardly understand that. But it's like saying "you can't like pizza and ice cream at the same time! They're different!" Ok, but they're both great XD

  2. I think it's cool that you are able to wear whatever you want and not worry about it. Ages ago when I only wore black if I ever wore colour everyone kept going on about how good I looked in colour and it really annoyed me. :P Then I wore colour for ages, and now they comment when I wear black again. Ha ha ha. You are right, it doesn't really change who we are inside!

    1. Omg, that happens to me too! All the time. It's like they try to encourage me so that I change my mind and start being normal again. You know when parents try to encourage children who don't want to eat by clapping at every bite they take? It's just like that XD.

    1. Actually, the only colours I wear aside from black are pink and baby blue ^^ (sometimes even red and white, but always matched with black and goth accessories!) maybe one day I'll learn to wear other colours too, but these are my favourite ones, so they are my one and only exception to black :D
When I bought this dress I thought it looked like a rainbow, too ^^ plus it has lace, and white lace appeals me just as much as black lace XD!
